Artist Statement
As an artist, I want to use my skills to raise awareness about wildlife care, rehabilitation and conservation. Currently, I am focusing my efforts on painting classical portraits of animal ambassadors that represent non-profit wildlife centers around the world and donating them so that the center can either keep them for their education centers and museums or auction them off for funds to help support the work they do.
Our Native Wildlife
Our natural world hosts the most beautiful, intricate, and delicate lattice of creatures that we get the honor to share this planet with. Every location on earth has an abundance of interesting wildlife that should be respected and protected at all costs. I spent my entire adulthood working toward moving away from the city and closer to the Pacific Northwest forests so I could focus on learning about, protecting and photographing wildlife in their natural habitats. There is truly nothing more exciting than getting to see our native wildlife living and thriving all around us!
The problem is that this isn't always the case. As humans continue to take advantage of our wildlife and their environments, we are seeing more and more strain on them for so many reasons that one wouldn't even expect. Every one of our actions has an impact on our wildlife and their environment. The awareness that this is happening is the first step. The next step is to educate ourselves on what we are doing now that is detrimental to wildlife and what we can change in our daily lives to help. You'd be surprised the little things we can do that can make a big impact.
For the longest time, the popular call to action was always saving the rainforests. And it is still a remarkable cause. But did you know that your native wildlife, yes, the deer crossing your street and the ravens flying overhead, actually need our help, too? Once you get up close and personal with these creatures and learn about what their lives are like, you start to appreciate that every creature, great or small, common or uncommon, near or far, deserves better. Help me bring awareness and intrigue to the great wildlife centers all around the world that are putting every ounce of time, energy and funds into saving, conserving and protecting the lives of our magnificent wildlife.
Reach out to me to find out how you can learn more and help in your area!
